Learn All About Drypoint Etching With Denise
Denise Scholz-Wulfing teaches the skill of drypoint etching at a one-day workshop on Saturday, April 13 at The Cootamundra Arts Centre from 10 am to 4 pm.
Experienced artist and educator, Denise Scholz-Wulfing will conduct her one-day workshop on drypoint etching on Saturday, April 13 from 10 am to 4 pm.
The full-day workshop will be held at The Cootamundra Arts Centre with a large press.
Costing $180 per person, this workshop is a small group, interactive, hands on event in which participants will learn the creative potential of drypoint etching by using an acetate plate to transform a simple line drawing into a wonderful print.
The principles of drypoint will be explained and demonstrated and participants will experience all aspects of creating their own fine art print.
This workshop is suitable for beginners to advanced attendees and all materials are included in the price.
Ms Scholz-Wulfing said she had been drawing and painting her whole life and attended art school in Sydney in the 1980s where she majored in drawing.
“Drawing is the basis for everything I do,” she said.
“The satisfaction of adding a line to a piece of paper then another and another, building up the image creating shape and tone and then finally finishing off a piece of work is profound.”
“I draw anything, although since moving to the country landscape, trees and birds have featured, as well as local history and stories.”
“Etching was a natural progression for me, building up an image using a line and tone etched into a metal plate to create an image with detail and high contrast with the added benefit of being able to produce multiple images from the one plate.
“I do like art that tells some sort of story, it doesn’t have to be obvious but it does have to resonate with me.
“Drawing for me not only describes the world around me but also tells stories.
“Drawing doesn’t have to be realisting, anyone can draw and how you draw is a reflection of how you see the world.”
