Boorowa Central School and CBR TKD join forces to provide self-defence classes to Boorowa citizens aged 12 years and older starting June 6.

There is no denying that most residents would count Boorowa as one of the best and safest communities in Australia, but even the safest of communities have been touched by crime and violence.

Boorowa Central School has joined with CBR TKD Self Defence to provide a four-week defence class to empower you with confidence and skills to protect your personal safety.

The classes will take place at Boorowa Central School hall from Thursday, June 6 at 6 pm.

Spokesperson for Boorowa Central School, Leanne Raynolds said CBR TKD’s expert senior instructor Brenton Harley will provide practical, hands-on training to equip participants with effective techniques to handle real-life situations.

“This collaboration stems from a shared commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and the broader community,” Ms Raynolds said.

“The primary goal of these self-defence courses is to equip participants with the skills and confidence needed to navigate and respond effectively to potential threats.”

“Through four comprehensive training sessions, Brenton hopes to foster a sense of empowerment and resilience amongst participants.”

“By learning practical techniques and strategies, participants will be better prepared to handle challenging situations, thereby enhancing their personal safety and peace of mind.”

“Over the four weeks, participants will cover a range of hands-on skills including an introduction to self-defence and basic striking techniques, escaping grabs and holds, ground defence and applying self-defence in real-world scenarios.”

Ms Raynolds said that safety concerns were ever present in today’s world and having the ability to defend oneself was crucial.

“Beyond the physical skills, self-defence training promotes mental and emotional strength, encouraging individuals to remain calm and composed under pressure,” Ms Raynolds said.

“This initiative not only contributes to personal safety but also builds a stronger, more confident community.”

“The introduction of self-defence courses through this valuable partnership is a proactive step towards enhancing the safety and resilience of our community.”

“We believe that these classes wil not only provide self-defence skills but also instil a lasting sense of confidence and security among all participants.”

The course is open to participants aged 12 years and older and costs $50 per person.

Numbers will be capped at 25 people, so call Brenton Harley directly on 0429 978 134 to secure your place.
