LEP work continues and Bribbaree shines

As previously reported, Council has completed the Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS) component of the Hilltops Local Environmental Plan (LEP) review project. The final outcome is a 149 page document that has been acknowledged by the State Government as a major tool in finalising the LEP process. The full colour LSPS is available online from the Hilltops website and I encourage everyone to visit the website to review the document.

Council is currently reviewing the LEP land use tables and attempting to harmonise land use and zonings between the planning instruments of the three former local government areas. This is being done in consideration of the strategic direction of the LSPS and entails a significant degree of effort on the part of Planning staff.

Council’s goal is to have the whole process finalised and adopted by the State by September 2021. While this is a full year later than the September 2020 target originally envisaged, the process was measurably delayed by the need to produce the LSPS and complicated by the impacts of the global pandemic. Council will keep the community updated on the progress and will have further rounds of public consultation during early 2021.

I was recently invited to view the new equestrian facility at the Bribbaree Showground. The quality of the finished facility is second to none. Built by local contractors with financial assistance from the State and project management oversight by Showground Trust members, the Bribbaree Showground is destined to be a focal point for equestrian events and a great venue for the Tubbul Campdraft to call home.

It is absolutely amazing how much small communities can achieve when they successfully partner with other levels of government. For Bribbaree in particular, there has been the commissioning of the Bribbaree Village Water Supply, the new Showground Bar, Showground Pavilion, equestrian yards and soon to be amenities block.

Much effort by the volunteers of the area has really produced some stunning results. Well done to all involved with the many and varied projects. COVID-19 is still with us so please wash and sanitise your hands, observe social distancing recommendations and get tested if you have any symptoms.
