LHAC Advocates For More Medical Support For Boorowa MPS
Boorowa LHAC continues to advocate for more medical support for residents of Boorowa.
The Boorowa Local Health Advisory Committee (LHAC) met last week, where members learned that a doctor would be available at the Boorowa Hospital three days a week.
The doctor will be available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in coming months, though the Remote Medical Consultation Service (RMCS) provided at Boorowa MPS works 24/7.
The RMCS provides medical advice over the phone to ensure patients receive the treatment they need when they need it.
It supports clinicians in outlying hospitals by prescribing medical treatments, providing first aid and identifying when further care is needed.
Boorowa Hospital is well covered for attending emergencies 24/7.
LHAC will continue to advocate for more medical support for Boorowa MPS.
Overall, last Tuesday’s LHAC meeting was very productive, with a number of topics discussed, resulting in benefits to local residents.
Other items discussed included a meeting with local state government representative, Steph Cooke to discuss issues relating to medical services in Boorowa, the confusion about physiotherapy services in Boorowa and how LHAC could inform residents about the range of services that were provided in Boorowa and its surrounding towns.
People are encouraged to look at Boorowa LHAC Facebook page, Boorowa Noticeboard Facebook page, in local newspapers and fliers around town or to ask an LHAC member what is happening in the LHAC health area.
