Lions Club Young Supports Junior Public Speaking
Young Public School Principal Edwina Wymer accepts Appreciation of Participation Certificate from Lion Heather Miller.
Lions Club of Young held a competition for students in two sections - grades 3 to 4 and 5 to 6, promoting opportunities to gain experience in public speaking.
Their chosen topic was What would you do if you were School Principal for a day?
Each grade was given three and four minutes.
The grades 5 to 6 group were also given an impromptu topic and asked to deliver a one-minute speech.
This topic was titled, Tell us why you like living where you live. The three judges, Janice Ottey, Lindy Saines and Sue Gordon, who officiated were left with a difficult task as the children all presented exceedingly well.
The event was a wonderful occasion for those students wishing to improve their speech delivery, and they will have the chance again later in the year when a second opportunity will be offered.
Lion Heather Miller said these children offered our community a vision of prosperity and achievement and she congratulated them for their efforts. If you would like to be involved, contact a Lions member or visit the LIons Club of Young Inc website or Facebook page.
