Local Photographers Do Well At Young Camera Club’s Annual Cherry Festival

Three hundred and seventy six - that’s the number of entries received for this year’s Young Camera Club’s Annual Cherry Festival Competition and Exhibition.
That is around 76 more than last year’s approximately 300 entries. Fifty five is the number of people who attended the official opening on Sunday, November 24. Local photographers did well in this year’s competition.
Young Camera Club’s Publicity Officer Narelle Howard said Rusty Fellow was the photograph that earned the winning photographer the Champion Print (Will Sibley Award).
“We are very excited that someone in the local area has won the Champion Print,” Ms Howard said. “Entries for local entry are within 60 km of Young PO Box, which includes Cootamundra.”
The winning photograph Rusty Fellow was the work of Cootamundra photographer Gail Douglas.
Young’s Gus Sheppard won the Junior Champion Print (Helen Berridge Memorial Award) which is photograph Rusty. The Junior Encouragement Award (John van Rijswijk Memorial Award) went to Gunning’s Emily Douglas for her photo Splashy Splash.
Awards were presented by Serena Sullivan from event sponsor SWS Bank. Tracy Lamb won the lucky door prize at the official opening as well as first prize in the raffle conducted on the day. Gemma Flannery won second prize.
Works will be exhibited until Sunday, December 1, at the Flamingos Room upstairs at Young Services Club. Entry costs $2 per person from 10 am to 4 pm, except for December 1 which will be 10 am to 2 pm.
