Extensive upgrades to the Monteagle Hall have been opened by the Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke.

The upgrades include new toilets, upgrades to the kitchen, deck and fencing, and an extension and upgrade of the hall space.

The NSW Government supported the work through three rounds of funding:

  • $50,000 - Stronger Community Fund Round 1
  • $181,773 - Stronger Community Fund Round 2
  • $184,743 – 2019/20 Crown Reserves Improvement Fund
  • $138,314 – 2020/21 Crown Reserves Improvement Fund

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke said the community was clearly delighted with the upgrades.

“It’s wonderful to see so many people here celebrating the huge amount of work that has been undertaken,” Ms Cooke said.

“This hall can now be used by a range of events and community groups for years to come thanks to the improvements and expansion.”

“I want to congratulate the committee for all their efforts, from applying for these grants to getting these improvemous undertaking and they should be very proud.”

Monteagle Hall Committee Member Leanne Sell said the upgrades will mean the hall can be used more often.

“The community are pretty excited about this, it’s been a long process. The Hall is completely transformed, it’s fantastic, and it’s big enough now to hold a big function, we can now comfortably seat 100 to 150 people,” Ms Sell said.

“We are hoping to hold more weddings, more school functions and hopefully some of the community events like concerts and performances.”

“It’s excellent to have the facilities inside the hall and modern, we have wheelchair access to both the hall and the toilets which is great.”
