Matilda Receives Harding Miller 2024 Riverina Scholarship
Harding Miller 2024 Riverina scholarship recipient Matilda Dunford.
Young’s Matilda Dunford is among the Year 9 Riverina students that have received the Harding Miller Education Foundation’s four-year academic scholarship.
The Harding Miller Education Foundation provides high-achieving young Australian women experiencing hardship with tools, resources and support to help them reach their full potential and build pathways to tertiary education and fulfilling careers.
Since its launch in 2015, Harding Miller has supported more than 12,000 scholarship recipients in 350-plus public Australian highschools.
The scholarships are awarded to students at the start of Year 9 and, at the end of Year 10, the recipients are invited to reapply for another two years of support.
Young highschool student Matilda Dunford said the four years of scholarship support is valued at over $20,000.
“Having the additional support with my schoolwork enables me to bring out the best of my education, such as help with my homework, access to high-speed internet, and the ability to do work whenever and wherever,” Ms Dunford said.
“My career goal is to be a doctor in either the RAAF or Navy.
“I love being able to help people.
“To help someone in a less fortunate country would be my ultimate goal.
“I love anything to do with medicine and the human body.
“Throughout the nine years I’ve been attending school, I have always put in a maximum effort and strived to succeed in everything I try.”
Harding Miller scholarships are provided to female students who show high academic potential and who are currently experiencing low socioeconomic circumstances.
Each recipient receives a new laptop, high-speed internet, face-to-face and online tutoring, online homework assistance, prepaid expense cards to cover school essentials such as textbooks and excursions, as well as study skills resources and a personal coach to guide them over the four years of the scholarship.
Applications for scholarships for 2025 will be open from July 15 to September 18, and local female students who may need support to undertake their tertiary studies should consider applying for a Harding Miller Education Foundation Scholarship.
