Would you like to have a hand in constructing a gunyah at the Murrumburrah-Harden Community Garden tomorrow?

It isn’t too late to get involved.

Mitch Summerfield and his family members will build a gunyah in the garden after which his uncle from West Wyalong will perform a traditional smoking ceremony.

A spokesperson for the garden, Rita O’Connor said they were expecting around 130 people so far, but she is certain more will turn up on the day.

“We’re cooking a sausage sizzle for everyone and I have a huge cake, too,” Mrs O’Connor said.

This year’s theme for NAIDOC Week is For Our Elders, acknowledging the important role that elders have had in our lives and the prominent places they have held and continue to hold in our families and communities.

If you haven’t contacted Mrs O’Connor to RSVP yet, please do so today so she can ensure they have enough sausages, onions and cake for everyone.
