Murrumburrah-Harden Rotary Service Director, Pat O’Connor inducted as a Paul Harris Fellow for his service to the community.

Last week’s meeting of Murrumburrah-Harden Rotary at the Lighthorse Hotel ended with Service Director Pat O’Connor inducted as a Paul Harris Fellow for his service to the community.

Guest speaker for the evening, manager of Flexible Care, Maryanne Fitzgerald gave a knowledgeable overview of Flexible Care.

Flexible Care provides multiple services to the community’s elderly.

Rotary commended them on their fantastic work.

Murrumburrah-Harden Rotary will be running the barbecue at the community markets on Sunday, August 18, so make sure to get out and snag some delicious barbecue.

Rotarian Rita O’Connor said the Club would be heavily involved with Book Week at all schools from Monday, August 19.

“We start with showing the new movie which will be released by the ABC for Book Week - Wilfrid Gordon MacDonald Patridge,” Ms O’Connor said.

“My daughter-in-law, Hattie is the director and she will be doing some activities with the kids on the film.”

“Tuesday and Wednesday we have author/illustrator Suzanne Houghton from Wagga teaching all primary school kids about visual literacy.”

“She will then go to MHS (Murrumburrah High School) on Thursday and do workshops with Years 7 and 8 and the Year 9 and 10 art students.”

“Rotary is then running a competition for the best illustrated short story in each year group, which will be due on September 9.”
