Murrumburrah-Harden Rotary enjoyed their changeover dinner last week, celebrating the magic of Rotary in general and their club in particular.

Ron Spelman served as emcee for the evening.

There were the usual speeches and presentations on the night, including Rita O’Connor presenting on the club’s big projects, the Bendigo Bank-supported Rotary Reading Program and the Community Garden.

The reading program has proved very successful, with every student in the local schools receiving two books in the last financial year.

Of course, the Community Garden continues to welcome local residents to explore its bounty, with some local producers even sharing their fruit and vegetables for visitors to the garden to take home with them.

Rhys Gray made the toast to Rotary International which was responded to by District Governor Elect Robert Shore.

Outgoing President Hugo Sachs presented his report and a number of awards and a donation to Flexible Care.

Finally, Mr Sachs passed the role of president to his successor, Janice Gray, who announced the new board and committee members.

Joining her on the board this year are:

  • Vice President, Hugo Sachs;
  • Secretary, Rita O’Connor;
  • Treasurer, Stephen Woodhead;
  • Service Director, Pat O’Connor;
  • Foundation Director, Jim Wright;
  • Membership Director, Hugo Sachs;
  • Youth Director, Krista Hooke; and
  • Publicity Officer, Ron Spelman.

With a delicious dinner and great company, everyone had a wonderful time.

The club now looks forward to an exceptional year ahead.
