Mental health is more than a hot topic - it has the capacity to affect every facet of our life.

It affects how we feel, how we think and how we act.

Mental health impacts heavily how we relate to other people, make healthy choices and how we handle stress.

It is something that remains important through every stage of our lives from childhood to adulthood.

Murrumburrah-Harden Rotary will host a walking relay to Lift the Lid on Mental Health on Sunday, October 23.

Rotarian and driving force behind the Community Garden, Rita O’Connor said the club supported Hat Day each year to raise funds for Australian Rotary Health.

“This year we want to try to involve all age groups in the community, especially younger people, to focus on the mental health needs of our community,” Ms O’Connor said.

The walk will commence at the Terracotta Restaurant and proceed to the Community Garden.

Participants can choose to walk 50 metres, one kilometre or the whole way before gathering at the garden for a delicious sausage sizzle.

For $5 you can get a sausage and drink.

Make it $10 and you will receive a sausage, steak and drink.

There is a gold-coin donation to enter the garden on event day and each participant walker will be asked for a $5 entry fee.

You can register as an individual walker or as a team of walkers and there is no age limit.

All proceeds will go to Australia Rotary Health for research into mental health.

If you would like to participate in the event, call Rita O’Connor on 0407 227 140 to RSVP.
