On Wednesday the 3rd of May, the first Boorowa CWA Mothers Group took place. Boorowa CWA saw a need for a regular mothers group for Boorowa women, it was not long before they had made a plan and formed the CWA Mothers Group!

This group was made with the goal of creating an inclusive group for mothers and expecting mothers to come together and bond over the experiences of motherhood. The group organisers believe that this goal was met as multiple mothers, some who have never met each other before, sat around laughing and talking about the ups and downs of being a Mum.

“This was something our community was lacking, especially during cold and wet winter days where there is nowhere for the kids to burn off some energy,” said one mother.

In the future, organisers want to host lactation specialists, midwives and infant First Aid courses at the mothers group to help broaden the education of mothers.

“To achieve a successful Mothers Group we need numbers to sustain us, without those numbers we won’t be able to run this group. The numbers we had today were promising so I’m hoping we will be able to keep them,” said the organiser.

During the Mothers Group, children had access to climbing equipment, arts and crafts, seesaws, indoor bikes and scooters and of course a Wiggles soundtrack playing in the background. This setup made it easier for the mothers to sit back and unwind as their children were burning off energy and making lifelong friendships.

Owing to the success of the day, CWA organisers have decided to run this service at the Boorowa Ex-Services every Wednesday at 10:00am.
