With lots of rain predicted for last Friday and the weekend Zone 8 decided to postpone the Bing Wallder Shield until the weekend of 20th and 21st April. Hopefully the weather that weekend will be better than it was Friday.

Play on Thursday afternoon took place in pleasant conditions with 14 players taking part. The vouchers for the afternoon went to Les Fanning and Cliff Traynor who won their game by 8 shots.

Chris Wright and Col Chapman had a 1 shot winning margin in their game and in the triples game Jim McQuade, Brian McNair and Colin Stokell won by 3 shots.

The final rounds of divisional play in the Guy Pickering Charity Challenge were completed during the week. On Tuesday night the winners were Lachlan Street and they were also the overall winners for Tuesday night.

There was a similar situation on Thursday night when FATBBOTS scored most points on the night and finished as the Thursday night winners. These two winning teams played the final on Tuesday night.

In women’s bowls there were four games of the Club Singles Championship played on Thursday afternoon.

Kate Cooper defeated Jenny Holt 25–19, Sheila Traynor defeated Ann Gardener 25–10, Lisa Boyd defeated Jill Rosen 25–12 and Margaret Gailey defeated Elsie Hines 25–13.

The club’s male bowlers should check two important sheets on the notice board.

The first one is the information sheet concerning Men’s Pennants for the 2024–25 season. Besides providing the details of what has happened in Zone 8 for Men’s Pennants in 2022–23 and 2023-24 it also outlines how to indicate your interest in playing in this event for 2024–25.

The second is the flyer concerning a Men’s Pairs tournament to be played at the club on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May.
