Last Thursday afternoon there were 14 players involved in Jackpot bowls.

There were three close contests with two margins of 7 shots and one of 5 shots.

After a count-back involving the two teams with a 7 shot margin the winners for the afternoon were Harold Anderson and Tom Preston. The other team in the count–back consisted of Brian Christie, Chris Wright and George O’Neil.

The margin of 5 shots belonged to John Cooper and Austin Crampton. Tom Preston also won the vouchers on Saturday when he teamed with Joe Read and Michael Webb for a 7–shot win.

In the only other game Steve Walsh and Les Fanning won by 3 shots.

Only a small number of players nominated to play in the special Social Bowls event on Good Friday. After play got underway at 3 o’clock as scheduled the heavy rain and hail caused play to be abandoned.

On Wednesday night the final of the Guy Pickering Charity Challenge was played. The Rusty Horse Hotel team representing the Wednesday night division consisted of Adam Saad, Steve Thomas and Russell Boyd.

Craig Watson, Colin McIver and Jono Watson (the FATBBOTS team) represented the Thursday night division. This was a very close contest with the score at 12–all going into the last end. The Rusty Horse Hotel team scored 1 shot on the final end to win 13–12.

Well done to the winners and thanks to all the players for their participation in this event and thanks also to the organisers – Ian Schofield and Cliff Traynor – and to those who helped during the past few weeks.

This Saturday will see the start of the Mixed Pairs Championship. All players will be advised of their games during the week.

It has been confirmed that Young will host the Zone 8 Finals for Grade 7 Pennants on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th May. The winning sides from all six sections will be involved with 72 players taking part over the weekend.
