Playing Ditch Weight

The recent weather conditions have not been kind to any outdoor sporting activity.

Numbers for men’s bowls on Thursday and Saturday have been quite small due to the cold and wet conditions.

On Thursday just six players were involved.

Bob Ruhl, Les Fanning and Michael Webb won their game against Brian Christie, Tom Preston and Denis Rosen 25–15.

Saturday saw three games of pairs being played but rain prevented some games being completed.

Albert Carter and Glen Benson defeated Michael Webb and Tom Preston 17–11, Darryle Miller and Denis Rosen defeated Chris Wright and Ian Schofield 23–13 and Les Fanning and Harold Anderson defeated Phil Taylor and Bob Ruhl 23–15.

Hopefully there will be fine weather at the weekend with plans in place to play the semi–finals of the Club Fours Championship on Saturday and the final on Sunday.

The games set down for Saturday are Jono Watson, Darryle Miller, Damien Miller and David Quigley to play John Cooper, Ian Schofield, Geoff Holt and Peter Watts and Brian Christie, Phil Taylor, Les Fanning and Denis Rosen to play Chris Wright, Bill Maloney, Graeme Edgerton and Cliff Traynor.

Players are reminded that entry details for the sectional rounds of the 2023-24 Zone 8 Pairs Championships are on the notice board.

Entries for these events close on Thursday 20th July.
