Minor Singles winner Colin Stokell and runner–up Mark Brownlie.

The continued cold conditions on Thursday saw the coldest day of the month so far with the official temperature less than 10 degrees.

Conditions on Saturday were slightly warmer than during the week and the periods of sunshine were appreciated by the players involved.

The final of the Minor Singles between Mark Brownlie and Colin Stokell saw an extremely close contest.

Colin won 7 of the first 11 ends and established a good lead of 17–6. The scoring was fairly even over the next 7 ends and Colin maintained the lead at 21–11.

Mark then won 6 consecutive ends to trail by just 2 shots at 19–21.

Colin extended his lead to 24–20 and on two occasions looked to have the extra shot needed to win but Mark changed the head and after 30 ends the score was 24–all.

On the final end Mark held shot before Colin rested on the shot bowl to hold shot. Mark’s final bowl was just wide and Colin was the winner 25–24.

Congratulations to both players on their play in this game.

There were just 10 players on the green on Thursday afternoon with a game of pairs and a game of triples.

In the pairs game Milan Brankovic and Ian Schofield won their game 20–15 and the winners of the triples game were Jim McQuade, Tony Oyston and Colin Stokell with a score of 23–20.

The 3 shot margin for this game was the score needed to claim the Jackpot so all 6 players in the game had a profitable afternoon.

On Saturday afternoon there were 12 players involved in Jackpot bowls.

The vouchers for the day went to Harold Anderson and Ian Schofield who won their game by 25 shots.

Michael Adams and Michael Webb also had a big margin winning by 19 shots.

Darryle Miller and Denis Rosen won their game by 3 shots.

This Sunday 21st July the club will conduct a Preliminary Round of the BPL Cup with play to start at 10 am.
