The second round of matches for the Open Pennant competition were played on Sunday with two of the club’s three sides having success.

The Grade 3 side travelled to Tumut and played on the synthetic green. Two of the three teams won and the overall score was 60–54 in Young’s favour. This gave the Young side 9 of the possible 10 points.

In the individual games David Quigley defeated Tim Crampton 29–10, Damien Miller defeated Geoff Webb 20–12 and Brian Madden lost to Adam Peel 11–32. The Grade 5 side also played on an artificial surface at Cootamundra Ex–Services Club. The Cootamundra side proved too strong for Young and won all three games for an overall score of 66–49.

Geoff Hillier defeated Denis Rosen 20–19, Jim White defeated Russell Boyd 21–17 and Neil Blackett defeated Glen Benson 25–13.

Young’s Grade 7 side played at home against the Grade 6 side from Harden and had a very good 94–35 win.

Tony Ruhl won 38–11 over Phil Bowerman, Joe Bargwanna won 31-11 against Shane McKellar and Colin Stokell won 25–13 against Gerard Davis. Once again our thanks to Colin Chapman and Vic Brown for their work on the barbecue.

More than 70 players took part in the Guy Pickering Charity Challenge during the week.

On Tuesday night the best score was 15 points for Rusty Horse while Boof’s Heroes scored 17 points to be the winners on Thursday night. Further games in the Club Singles will be played this week.
