Playing Ditch Weight

There was fine weather for play on Thursday afternoon last week with 16 players on the green.

There were some big winning margins with Brian McNair and John Cooper taking out the vouchers with a win by 19 shots.

George O’Neil and Peter Watts won their game by 16 shots and Justin Nowlan and Denis Rosen had a 14 shot margin.

Harold Anderson and Bob Ruhl were the winners by just 1 shot in the only close game of the day.

Saturday afternoon was fine and sunny and 16 players took part.

The winning teams for the afternoon were Ian Schofield and Peter Watts 27–12, Brian Christie and Denis Rosen 33–21, Phil Taylor and John Cooper 24–10 and Les Fanning and Tom Preston 35–10.

Les and Tom claimed the vouchers with their 25 shot margin.

Also during the week Therese Ruhl (playing as a substitute) and Kate Cooper played in the Bowls NSW Women’s Champion of Club Champions Pairs at Cabra Vale Diggers Bowling Club.

After winning their three sectional games they lost their first game in the knockout stage on Saturday morning.

Well done on some good results.

There is quite a lot of information on the notice board concerning entries to various events.

Men players are reminded that entries for the Club Fours Championship close on Saturday the 10th of June.

Information about the Zone 8 Men’s Pennants is on the board and players should make sure they have read the details.

Information concerning a Preliminary Round of the BPL Cup to be held at the club on Sunday 25th June is on the notice board. Entries close on Wednesday 21st June.

Entry details for the sectional rounds of the 2023-24 Zone 8 Pairs Championships are now on display.

There are three divisions – Men’s State, Men’s Senior and Open Reserve.

Entries for these events close on Thursday the 20th of July.
