The Lions Club of Young held its “A Cuppa In A Mug With A Hug And A Smooch” event on Saturday, October 19 to raise money for Lions Childhood Cancer Research.

Lions Publicity Officer Heather Miller said their guest speaker Lisa Simpson was the Executive Officer of Ronald McDonald House in Wagga.

“Lisa Simpson gave an in depth look at the value of Wagga Wagga’s Ronald McDonald House and the assistance that it gives to the children and families who struggle with illness which is extremely disruptive to families,” Ms Miller said.

“No member of a family is left untouched by these situations in which they have to navigate daily to endure the challenges ahead.

Local families are using the Wagga Wagga facility which enables them to work through their difficulties with a helping hand.”

“Approximately 70 people attended. We were very pleased with the number of people who attended to make the day the success that it was.”

A Coin Line was established on the day to allow guests to contribute to Ronald McDonald House in Wagga. Ronald McDonald House is funded by donations and fundraising, events and activities, it also relies heavily on the help of volunteers.
