As we navigate another lockdown, it is important to focus on what you can personally control in your life and focus less on the other things outside our control.

It can be frustrating and there is no denying for those unable to work it can be stressful. It is important to acknowledge where we are and the circumstances we are in but then focus back to what we are able to control.

Redirect our focus enables us to shift our mindset and outlook and therefore create more positive health and wellbeing for ourselves and those around us.

My outlook heading into lockdown is that we have been given a gift of time, a time to reflect, reconnect with ourselves, our values and reset.

It is a great practise to reflect. We often get caught up looking to the future tomorrow, next week, next year and planning forward. When did you last take the time to reflect on where you have been, what you have achieved both in your personal life and work life. I encourage you all to write down everything that you can think of that you have achieved in your life to date, small and big as everything counts and has got you to here today.

Reconnecting with our values lies deep within our purpose for life. Sometimes if we don’t feel aligned or feel we aren’t being truly authentic to ourselves we are often living outside our values. Everyone’s values are different and unique to each of you. If you find yourself thinking what are my values?’, ask yourself some questions like:

What is important to me?

What makes me happy?

What inspires me to take action? To speak my mind?

When do I feel most alive?

When we live within our personal values we live with purpose and passion.

So once we have looked within ourselves and got to know what we value and how we find purpose. We can then reset ourselves to focus and create movement around these values. Thinking about how I can incorporate more of my values in my life, Can I challenge myself to create an opportunity that really makes me feel alive, perhaps it may be stepping outside your comfort zone.

I believe if you are each able to listen to what you feel and focus your energy into creating positive experiences that align with your values, you will truly be better for it.

“Where focus goes, energy flows. And if you don’t take the time to focus on what matters, then you’re living a life of someone else’s design” – Tony Robbins
