Students of Murrumburrah Public School chose their first books for this year’s Rotary Reading Program on Friday, June 5.

After the success of last year’s program, made possible by a grant from the Rotary district, The Harden Bendigo Bank was eager to jump on board to sponsor a follow-up this year.

Member of Rotary, Rita O’Connor said students would receive follow-up boards towards the end of the year.

“We gifted every primary school child in Harden a couple of books,” Ms O’Connor said.

“We also ran a shared reading program at the Harden Library for six weeks.”

“This year, we’re starting a Harry Potter club for our shared reading and are reading the first book. There will be a new weekly challenge for all who wish to come to the book reading.”

The Harry Potter Club will kick off on the first Wednesday of Term 3, July 19 at 3:30 pm.

“The first challenge to enter the Harry Potter club is that each child needs to know a spell,” Ms O’Connor said.

“It has to be a spell from the Harry Potter series.”
