The Summer Twilight Competition continued to impress in Round 7, showcasing another evening of high-quality hockey. Players displayed remarkable skill development, while new faces took to the field, embracing the challenge and excitement of the game.

The first game of the evening saw the Dingoes and Wombats go head-to-head as wild weather swept through. Gilroy Walsh stood strong in the middle for the Dingoes, skillfully distributing the ball to his teammates and driving it down the field.

Kiara Ryan also made her presence felt, tirelessly defending against the Wombats’ numerous goal attempts with the assistance of Michael Adams. Kyle McGovern played a pivotal role at both ends of the field, contributing to both attack and defense for the Dingoes.

The Wombats, however, rose to the challenge. Chris Hosken and William Byrnes were formidable in defense, denying every goal attempt, while Jennifer McKay led the charge in attack, making several promising shots at goal. Despite both teams’ relentless efforts, the score remained locked at 0-0 at halftime.

In the second half, the Wombats found their rhythm, working cohesively to break through the Dingoes’ defense. Cooper Saines seized the opportunity to convert a beautiful goal, capitalizing on a gap in the defense. Jennifer McKay followed up in the final quarter with another stunning goal, sealing the Wombats’ 2-0 victory.

The second game of the evening featured i

the Hilltops Hornets and Kookaburras in a thrilling, fast-paced contest from start to finish. Ella Ritchard had a standout performance on the wing, skillfully advancing the ball up the field for the Kookaburras. Lucy Dunk held her position well, scoring a superb goal in the first quarter and consistently contributing in defense.

The Kookaburras continued to dominate as Jude and Joshua Sibanda showcased their synergy, passing around defenders with precision and each scoring a goal to boost their team’s tally.

Bryce Weedon also demonstrated his talent, slotting a well-placed goal to take the Kookaburras’ score to 4. The Hilltops Hornets matched the Kookaburras’ intensity, with Zac Williams putting his team on the scoreboard and keeping them in the game.

They raised the tempo in the second half as Ned Mullany made a dynamic run down the sideline, breaking into the circle to secure the Hornets’ second goal. This was quickly followed by a brilliant solo effort from Luke Cosgrove to notch the Hornets’ third goal. Despite their relentless push and multiple attempts at goal, the Hilltops Hornets couldn’t quite catch the Kookaburras, who secured the victory with a final score of 4-3.

The final game of the evening saw the Wallabies take on the Wombats in what was the second match of the night for the Wombats, who gave it their all despite the quick turnaround. The Wombats played a strong game, and the final score was not entirely reflective of their efforts.

The first half was tightly contested, with the Wombats holding firm in both defense and attack. Jennifer McKay covered a lot of ground, while Faith Freeman found opportunistic space on the field to help the Wombats advance.

Hayley Saines showcased her skill in the circle, tapping the ball into the goal for her team, while Jennifer McKay broke through the defense to add a second goal to the Wombats’ tally.

However, it was the Wallabies’ night to shine, and they executed their game plan flawlessly. Monique Woodward was instrumental in distributing the ball effectively, giving her teammates every opportunity to advance and score.

Izack Meharg maneuvered the ball expertly into the circle, setting up Elijah Meharg to net three impressive goals. David Webster, Andrew Pratt, and Monique Woodward also found the back of the net, rounding out the Wallabies’ dominant 6-2 victory.
