This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the proclamation to end Australian involvement in the Vietnam War.

The RSL Sub-branch Young will conduct a Remembrance Service “Vietnam Veterans Day” on Friday, August 18.

The event will take place at Anderson Park at 11 am and all veterans and members of the public are invited to attend.

A small wreath laying will form part of the event.

Vietnam Veterans Day was originally known as “Long Tan Day”, chosen to commemorate the men of Company D, 6ARAR who fought in the battle of Long Tan on August 18, 1966.

Our region is home to around a dozen Vietnam veterans, in Young and surrounding districts.

The RSL Sub-branch Young honours the veterans who have served in all wars, supporting each other and taking care of family members left behind by those who gave their lives in our service.

Please take the time to purchase a badge when the RSL Sub-branches are on their selling days.

All proceeds from the sale of the badges go to the veterans living in our community.
