Step Back In Time

Inquisitive children are always asking what it was like in the ‘old days’, imagining that we more mature folk had no idea what technology was.
Easter Saturday is the perfect opportunity for them to learn a little about how things operated before mobile phones, digital television and virtual reality headsets.
Boorowa & District Historical Society Inc secretary Sharon Meere said they would be showcasing something special this weekend.
“This is the original Proofing Press from The Boorowa News,” Ms Meere said.
“In the photos, you can see that ink has to be run over the top of the type and then the machine has to be worked manually to get the finished product.”
This wonderful machine will be operational on the day so that visitors can get a first-hand look at just how the paper used to be printed before everything went digital.
The museum is open from 11 am to 2 pm.
