Support For Flood Affected Communities

Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) has reminded rural families and communities that mental health support is available, as ongoing wet conditions and regional flooding impact the region.

The Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMHP) has coordinators living and working in rural and regional NSW, linking and connecting people to mental health support when needed.

RAMHP Coordinators link people to local mental health services and resources, educate workplaces and communities about mental health and well-being and respond in times of natural disasters and severe adversity.

Flooding has impacted many people living in rural NSW, and RAMHP Coordinator, Tammy Elwin reminded people to look after their mental health and well-being at this time.

“If you are not sure where to start or want some advice on the best option for you, having a chat to your nearest Rural Adversity Mental Health Program Coordinator can help,” Ms Elwin said.

“I encourage people to remember that challenging times do pass, but if you feel you need some extra support, we’re here for you and you can reach out when the time is right for you.”
