Local financial institution South West Slopes Credit Union (SWSCU) have their election of directors running currently.
Ballot papers were posted to members and must be received back by the time ballots close next Tuesday, October 26 at 12pm.
SWSCU has a proud tradition of serving its members for nearly 50 years. Starting out in Young in 1972 with 78 foundation members it has grown to approximately 15,000 members with branches across Young, Cootamundra, Temora and West Wyalong as well as agencies in Boorowa and Harden.
Mutuality is an important part of a credit union meaning SWSCU can profit members, rather than corporate profit. It also means every single member has one vote.
“We are so lucky to have a local credit union. Credit unions can serve their members and communities in a way big banks do not. It’s just so important to support local organisations that support their community,” said nominee Louise Manwaring.
“You do not get that sort of democracy with a big bank. I just really encourage people to have their say. Get onto it and vote.”
