Eagerly anticipated all year, the 74th National Cherry Festival will kick off tomorrow, November 29 with some stage-rocking entertainment from Easy Goin’ to The Kirks and BIRDEE, a unique new artist on the Australian scene.
It promises to be loads of fun, with a spectacular fireworks display at 9 pm. The weekend is going to be filled with all the favourite events and features that everyone loves, from the cherry pie-eating competition and the cherry pip spitting competition through to the street parade down Boorowa Street and the hand-made and home-grown markets.
Take in the reptile display, petting zoo and Tai Chi demonstration and listen to the Bush Poets as they do their thing. Something new this year is the Cherry Twirl Competition - best dressed cherry-themed-girl and boy aged 0 to 4 and 5 to 10 years.
This event came about due to the many cherry-themed outfits donned by youngsters over previous festivals. The event will take place at 2:30 pm on the main stage on Saturday, November 30 - entry is free.
Head to the many cherry farms and pick your own cherries. Of course, Carnival Alley provides hours of fun for the whole family.
