The old veteran Hoppe’s back into monthly medal winners circle

Saturday saw a brisk but sunny start to the monthly medal and round 1 of club championships. On what is proving to be a challenge with green speeds getting faster, the punters were away and all having there bid at taking out the guzzlers mug.

Kevin Hoppe came out in front with a 73 nett on countback from Pete Elliot, Mat Piesley and Herb Manwaring. Great golf in some trying conditions.

Club champs has kicked off and after 2 rounds Ben Glover is leading the charge in A grade with a respectable +7 after scores of 74 and 75. May Piesley is 2nd place by a few with scores of 79 and 80 and Kevin Hoppe 3rd with scores of 78 and 82.

B grade and Herb Manwaring is keeping the field at bay with Young Gun brady Schofield nipping at his heels in 2nd and followed by David Solah.

Our Ladies have also started there campaign strong with Janette Elliot so far leading the field quickly followed by Maryann Fitzgerald, Eve Shea and Jackie Solah.

McLean gold cup and the oldest trophy the club has to offer with the best Nett score. Mat Piesley is taking the charge here with Ben glover 2 shots behind and Kevin Hoppe 1 back for third.

Overall some good golf and I’m sure there will be some movement this weekend in the finals rounds of the championships.
