My tomatoes are growing so well however I would love to know what your top tips are for maintaining them like this? Jamie from Boorowa
Continue to remove the lowest leaves, dead and damaged leaves – this allows the plants to have good ventilation and will prevent disease. Don’t over water the plants as fruit will become watery or split. Water early in the morning. Be consistent with watering to avoid blossom end rot. Water plants at the base rather than overhead. Apply a liquid fertiliser that is suitable to encourage fruiting.
What quick tips would you give a first-time garden owner before I start designing my outdoor space? Kim from Yass
Before making any final decisions live in the space for a year, so you can experience every season in the garden. Take the time to walk around the space in every season and in every type of weather so you can develop a good understanding of the site. This will allow you to make educated decisions.
If you like what you have then work with what you have as much as possible, for example consider the architectural style of the house, the materials you have access to on site – try to upcycle where possible, mature trees try to work with them not against them.
Create a master plan so that you always know what the next step is. It so frustrating, time wasting and costly if you start your garden and then realize you have to rip it out or it doesn’t work with the next stage of your garden. I do have a 10 step guide to designing your home garden available to purchase as an ebook or a hard copy book at https://glenicebuckdesigns.com.au/product/designing-your-home-garden-ten-steps-for-garden-design/
