Wombat Bush Poets Host Open Mic

There wouldn’t be many Aussies who couldn’t recite at least a few lines from The Man From Snowy River or My Country, from legendary bush poets Banjo Paterson and Dorothea Mackellar.
Members of the Wombat Bush Poets will host an open mic on Sunday, August 28 from 2pm at the Commercial Hotel in the rear courtyard pavilion.
They will tell their yarns in traditional rhyme and rhythm, but they will accept all poetry styles for the open mic sessions.
Juniors are welcome to participate and have a go, but must remain in non-bar areas of the club. Since youngsters are invited, all material must be family-friendly.
Anyone who can play a fiddle, squeezebox or similar instrument is invited to take it along on the day. Who knows, they may even end up having a singalong.
Not really interested, or brave enough, to have a go, but still interested in seeing what it’s all about? There’s no performance without an audience, so turn up and take in the show.
Meals are available up until 1:30pm, and drinks are available at bar prices. You can get a cup of tea or coffee for $2.
Entry to the event is by gold coin donation.
Wombat Bush Poets are a subgroup of HillArts (INC).
