At social bowls on Thursday, 15th October, 14 women enjoyed a friendly afternoon playing Pairs and Triples games. Jenny Holt and Robyn Apps won their game against Chris Hancock and Elsie Hines 16/8, while the other pairs game was between Heather Bailey and Kate Cooper, who had a win against Jill Rosen and Judy Watson 19/13. June Brownhill, Therese Ruhl and Sheila Traynor won their triples game against Robyn Tierney, Pat Walker and Kathryn Betcher 18/13. Jenny and Robyn won the vouchers with the greatest margin, but the jackpot was not won.
The NSW Women’s Bowls Summer League competition began on Sunday, 18th October at the Young Club with 8 District teams participating. This competition will be played each Sunday afternoon at Young, starting at 4pm and will finish in December. The format is 2 bowl triples played over 15 ends. Results of the 1st round are as follows: Forever Young were defeated by Grenfell Girls 19/13; Slightly Biased (Young) defeated Boorowa Sweethearts 21/9; Young Cherryettes won their game against Harden Hawks 18/17, while Young Herz won 10/5 against Cootamundra Mixed Girls. Each of the winning teams are on 2 points.
Next weekend, 24/25 October an Open Pairs Tournament will be held at the Young Club. Players can choose to play both days or just one. Cards will be called at 9.30am with play commencing at 10am. The entry form is on the noticeboard.
The team of Jenny Holt, Elsie Hines (substitute for Ann Gardner) and Margo Parker will contest the Regional Triples Play-off at Wagga Rules Club Tuesday and Wednesday 20/21 October. They are wished the very best.
Next Tuesday and Wednesday, 27/28 October, 2 teams from Young will be contesting the Regional Fours play-off at Wagga Rules Club and Wagga RSL Club. The Open Fours team consists of Sheila Traynor, Jill Rosen, Therese Ruhl and Kate Cooper while Judith Mulligan, Heather Bailey, Elsie Hines and Margaret Gailey make up the Senior Fours team. Once again, wishing them good bowling with good luck thrown in as well.
