A working bee at the Harden Cross Country Course has restored the grounds to usable condition following the damaging hailstorm that hit Harden in February.

Emily Bowker said the damage was extensive.

“Saturday saw the big working bee take place in conjunction with the two clubs (Harden Pony Club and Harden Horse Trials) following the devastating flood from earlier February- the creek really did make a mess of our Cross Country course.”

Emily thanked the volunteers for their efforts in restoring the grounds which will allow events to be run throughout the year.

“We feel extremely grateful to all the volunteers who showed up and pitched in to get the grounds back into shape. Both organisations can’t thank these volunteers enough!” “The committees both feel confident that they will be able to run their annual events following the massive effort put in by everyone from as young as 4 years old to 70 years old.”

The success of the working bee held the Saturday before last meant the Harden Pony Club’s 2025 Pony Club Camp was able to be held last weekend.

The legendary trainer of 2024 Melbourne Cup winner Knight’s Choice Sheila Laxon was the special guest at the camp. Attendees had the opporunity to meet Sheila and get a photo with the Melbourne Cup.

The camp was filled with activities with the kids learning new skills as well as having a great deal of fun.
