Young Black Dog Ride Raises Money For Community

The Black Dog Ride - Young NSW 1 dayer was held on Sunday in warm weather.
The ride began at the historic Young Railway Station where registrations took place.
Over 81 bikes then took a lap of the main street of Young before heading out on the road and into Temora.
Organiser Tex Quigg was surprised at what greeted them as they rode into Temora.
“What a sight. It was absolutely astonishing. Bikes lined up as far as I could see.”
“Massive thank you to the Terminus Hotel Temora ‘The Termo’ for having us.”
A lap of Temora’s main street followed before the group made their way to the Stockinbingal Bowling Club for lunch and ‘Shave A Vet.’“We thank the great hospitality of the Stockinbingal community, absolutely amazing community. ‘Shave A Vet’ was completed as well as raffles. Racheal Denniss stepped up and auctioned the hair and raised $500.”
“Another fella stepped up and passed the hat around, had his beard and hair shaved.”
The ride then headed to the Wallendbeen Hotel for more raffles.
“We thank the Wallendbeen Hotel for having us.”
The final stop of the ride was at the Commercial Hotel as the group returned to Young. The ride was wrapped up with the last of the raffles and the saw blade.
“Then the biggest shock,” said Tex.
“Dale Morton, who was the ‘Shave A Vet’, handed over close to 16 thousand dollars and we are still collecting and counting.”
“This is absolutely amazing for our community.”
“Hopefully a final count towards the end of the week.”
The massive total will be split between the Young Crisis Accommodation Centre, Hilltops Community Hub and Black Dog Ride.
Tex would like to “thank everyone that turned out to make this possible. You all need to stand proud of yourselves. I take my hat off to each and every one of you.
“A special thanks to Jenny Rolfe for Riverina for taking time and spending the day with us.”
