Young Garden Club invites the community to join them outside Woolworths this Saturday, November 9 between 10 and 4 pm, where they will be selling raffle tickets for a Christmas wheelbarrow raffle.

Proceeds from the raffle will go to Boys to the Bush and the Young Unit of the Australian Army Cadets. Young Garden Club Secretary Helen Sheedy said the group tried to choose different charities that were based in the local area to be recipients of their fundraising efforts.

“Some of our members recently attended a presentation by Boys to the Bush and were very impressed with the passion and sincerity they demonstrated when speaking about the work they do and the aims of their organisation,” Ms Sheedy said.

“Boys to the Bush aims to give boys the opportunity to be surrounded by positive influences and opportunities to succeed.”

“We were impressed with the variety of programs Boys to the Bush run, such as mentoring, camps, school programs, and community engagement days to help boys become better men and improve their wellbeing, development, and futures.”

“Boys to the Bush focus on prevention and early intervention as well as providing an environment free from distractions in their lives to encouraging mateship, resilience and a sense of belonging.”

“The Young Garden Club is grateful for the opportunity of contributing to an organisation that directly impacts the lives of young boys and to making a stronger community.”

Ms Sheedy said the Australian Army Cadets Young Unit was also a group that worked with young people within the local community, providing opportunities for young people to feel respect for themselves and others, to give them a sense of belonging and contributing to the community through their regular activities, including ANZAC Day ceremonies.

“The Young Cadets program provides a safe environment for young people to learn new skills, make friends, and reach their full potential and the Young Garden Club is excited to be able to contribute, even if only in this small way,” Ms Sheedy said.

“Buy a ticket for $2 and be in the running for a great prize valued over $500 and help support these great local community organisations.”

The raffle will run until December 12, with stalls at Woolworths Young on November 8 and 29 and December 6 and 13 and Bunnings Young on November 15 and 22 and December 12.

Tickets can also be purchased via Facebook or by phoning 0474 185 093 or emailing theyounggardenclub@gmail.com.
