If you didn’t get to the Young Hospital Auxiliary Coffee Morning, you certainly missed something special.

Auxiliary President, Janice Ward said there was plenty of chatter among the Auxiliary members as they sipped a good cup of coffee before guest speaker and Boorowa author Karen Smith spoke about her new book, ‘Great Battle in a Snowstorm: Boorowa and District’s Spanish Flu Victims.’

“What an impressive speaker,” Mrs Ward said.

“Every point was delivered precisely with just the right amount of information and everything so well organised.”

“It is quite remarkable how much research Karen has done in such a short period.”

“And there were people from Young who died from the Spanish flu.”

The lucky door prize, won by Lyn Freudenstein, was a signed copy of Karen Smith’s book donated by Janice Ward.

This event’s purpose was not to raise money.

Rather, it was to provide a friendly and interesting morning for everyone to enjoy.

The Auxiliary now looks forward to its fundraiser later in the year - their Open Gardens.

They are also in the process of purchasing more items for the hospital.
