Young Hospital Auxiliary Mother’s Day Stall

The Hospital Auxiliary Stall held last Friday was a great success despite the weather turning nasty.
President Janice Ward said, “We are very lucky that Young has such a supportive community! No sooner had we decided that we would shift to Donges IGA, thanks to the generous offer of Robert Donges, than the police arrived and helped us carry all our chairs, tables and goodies out of the rain.”
The raffle was a huge success and this is thanks to the generous donors. This time they were The Loft Fashion House, Young Eyes, Urban Hair and Beauty, Annie B and Auxiliary members. Thanks also to all those who bought raffle tickets. Scott Hart was the winner of the stunning first prize overnight travel luggage. Other winners were Sam Johnson, Judy Bryant and Katrina Green.
The members put in a fantastic effort for all the events, cooking cakes, slices and biscuits, jams and relishes, knitting and sewing, potting plants, making mini succulent gardens, growing vegies and flowers to pick fresh etc. But there are many other people who also donate goods to stock the stall. Lots of succulents were thanks to regular donor Neville Corkery. Ninety-nine-year-old Doreen Sheehy from Sydney continues to send squares to be made up into blankets. Beautiful knitted blankets were also given by Gwen Bell. The Auxiliary can’t mention everyone, but thank you to all donors and supporters including O’Reilly’s Printing, Hilltops Council, 2LF and 2YYY.
This is the first of the fundraising events for the year, so the Auxiliary are off to a good start to purchase items on the Hospital “Wish List.” The next fundraiser is a raffle leading up to Soup Day on Friday 19th July. If you want to join the Auxiliary in working for the welfare of the community, please come along to the Auxiliary meetings which are held on the first Thursday of every month at 10.30am in the meeting room at the Hospital.
